Reese's Reindeer Mix: Ingredients and Allergens
Explore Reese's Reindeer Mix ingredients, added sugar, food colors and allergens, plus how the 2026 Grinch, Max and Cindy-Lou Who holiday candies compare.
Reese’s Reindeer Mix combines chocolate-drizzled popcorn, mini Reese’s Trees, Reese’s Pieces, and peanut butter chips in a seasonal snack mix. Hersheyland lists it in a 7 oz bag. It is a packaged product, so a homemade “reindeer chow” recipe will not tell you what is in this bag. Official product page.
Before putting it in a holiday bowl, check the actual label for allergens, serving size, and any ingredients you prefer to avoid. The front of a festive package can help you find a product; the back helps you decide whether it fits your needs.
U.S. product information checked November 6, 2026. The cover photograph shows generic chocolate, not the packaged mix. Your purchased package takes priority if its label differs.
What is in Reese’s Reindeer Mix?
Hersheyland’s ingredient list starts with sugar, corn syrup, and vegetable oil. It also lists peanuts, milk ingredients, soy lecithin, artificial colors including Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Red 40, and Blue 1, plus ingredients such as PGPR, carnauba wax, and TBHQ. Its allergen statement names milk, peanuts, and soy. Reese’s Reindeer Mix label.
That is a selective overview, not a replacement for the complete ingredient statement. If one specific ingredient matters to you, search the current bag for its exact name rather than relying on the flavor description. For example, someone checking soy needs to look beyond the peanut butter wording on the front.
The FDA explains that ingredient lists generally run from the greatest to the smallest amount by weight. That order helps describe a formula, but does not reveal the precise quantity of every ingredient. Some ingredients may also be declared collectively, including certain flavors. FDA ingredient guide.
Calories, added sugar, and serving size
For the U.S. 7 oz bag, Hersheyland gives the following values per 1/3 cup (28 g):

| Label item | Per serving |
|---|---|
| Calories | 140 |
| Added sugars | 14 g |
| Saturated fat | 4 g |
| Sodium | 90 mg |
| Protein | 2 g |
The page lists about seven servings per bag. Official nutrition information.
If you are comparing this mix with another holiday snack, put both labels on the same basis. A 28 g serving and a 50 g serving describe different amounts of food. Consider the portion you actually plan to put in your bowl before deciding which numbers are most relevant.
Also distinguish total sugar from added sugar. FDA explains that added sugars are included within total sugars, so the two lines should not be added together. Added sugars explained.
How to approach the food colors and other additives
If your goal is to avoid a particular color or additive, use the named ingredient as your starting point. “Holiday,” “popcorn,” and “peanut butter” do not answer that question. Equally, a long list does not give you a measurement of exposure or a diagnosis of harm.
For unfamiliar names, our food additive guide offers a starting point. You can also look up individual entries for soy lecithins, PGPR, or TBHQ. Use those explanations alongside the bag, rather than assuming an ingredient has the same purpose or amount in every food.
Make your comparison specific: “Does this package list the color I avoid?” is a question the printed label can answer. “Is every holiday snack containing an additive bad?” is much broader than the information on one package supports.
What about Hershey’s Grinch, Max, and Cindy-Lou Who candy?
These searches refer to different products. The 2026 holiday announcement distinguishes a new Cindy-Lou Who flavor from Max-themed Hugs and returning Grinch chocolate products. Do not transfer a label from one to another.
Scroll sideways to compare all columns.
| Product | What the official product page says |
|---|---|
| Cindy-Lou Who Strawberry Sugar Cookie Kisses | Strawberry sugar cookie candy; allergen statement lists milk, soy, and wheat |
| Max the Dog Hugs | Milk chocolate and white creme candy; lists milk and soy, plus an almond shared-equipment statement |
| Grinch-foil Kisses | Listed as milk chocolates with Grinch foils; distinct from the Cindy-Lou Who flavor |
For a shopper checking wheat, that distinction is more useful than the character on the bag. Match the complete name, flavor, and size before opening an ingredient page or comparing nutrition information.
Sharing a holiday snack bowl
When you pour several products into one bowl, you make the original labels harder for guests to match to the contents. A simple hosting approach is to keep each snack separate and leave its package available beside it. If you make gift bags, include the original product information rather than describing the contents only as “Christmas candy.”
For food allergies, read the original ingredient and allergen statements every time. FDA advises avoiding foods that contain your allergens and knowing your response plan for accidental exposure. A previous purchase or a familiar brand does not replace checking the current product. FDA food allergy guidance.
For a guest managing an allergy, ask what arrangement works for them before serving. Keep the distinction between an ingredient preference and a medical allergy clear; an attractive ingredient summary is not an allergy clearance.
A useful way to scan the bag
If you use Toxic Scan, photograph the full ingredient panel in good light. Compare the recognized words with the package and explore any terms you do not know. Read the nutrition panel separately for quantities.
Do this while the packaging is still in your hand. A photograph of loose popcorn and candy cannot reveal the original ingredient list, the flavor variant, or manufacturing information. A scan can support label reading, but it cannot establish whether cross-contact occurred or guarantee allergy safety.
Quick questions before you buy
Is Reese’s Reindeer Mix peanut-free?
No. The current official U.S. allergen statement includes peanuts, as well as milk and soy. Check the actual bag before serving.
Is the whole bag one serving?
No. The official page lists about seven servings. Check the serving size rather than treating a resealable pouch as a single portion.
Are all Grinch-themed Hershey candies the same flavor?
No. Match the exact product name: character foils, a new flavor, and a different candy format are separate things.
The easiest shopping routine is to identify the exact bag, read the allergen statement, compare your intended portion, and then check ingredients that matter to you. Use Toxic Scan’s label-reading tools when you want help understanding the terminology.
